By law, most commercial and industrial premises and Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) require a fire detection system to protect life and property. National and local legislation covers a variety of buildings and their safety requirements, therefore it is always advisable to consult the local Fire Prevention Officer about specific premises. All such premises must also have their fire safety systems services and maintained at least twice a year by a qualified professional.

In addition, all new buildings which house staff or guests, or are subject to a high risk rate, are now required to have a compliant fire safety system installed prior to occupation. These buildings also require twice annual servicing of their fire safety systems.
